LocationDiana will display anywhere in the UK, preferably over an open space or airfield (built-up areas excluded). Overnight accommodation for pilot and aircraft is required if the event is further than 200 miles from her home airfield (Fairoaks, Surrey). Event AuthorisationThe event organiser should apply for authorisation from the Civil Aviation Authority. Pilot AuthorisationDiana is CAA-authorised to fly in the Unlimited Aerobatic Category down to a minimum height of 100ft in flying displays requiring permission under the Air Navigation Order, subject to conditions. Display TimesAll displays must finish one hour before sunset. InsuranceDiana's displays carry £1,000,000 of third party insurance, with a Crown Indemnity of £7,500,000. Aircraft RequirementsFor airshows held at an airfield a supply of 100 LL aviation fuel is required, up to 120 litres. For an overnight stay, hangar space must be available for the aircraft. Hotel AccommodationHotel accommodation and meals should be provided for the pilot, with transport to and from the hotel. PaymentPayment is required for aircraft and incidental expenses, payable to the address given on the Contact page. The amount to be charged will be estimated in advance. WeatherAll bookings are subject to weather conditions, and the pilot's decision is final. In practice, very few events have to be cancelled for bad weather. The DisplayThe exact design of the display will be selected according to the venue. Typically the display lasts for about 8 minutes and will include low-level flypasts, high speed manoeuvres, 250mph full-power dives, low speed tumbling and gyroscopic figures, vertical climbs and rolls, tailslides, inverted flight and a variety of other manoeuvres. If a loudspeaker system is available, the display can be flown to music, and a CD will be provided on request. Once everything has been agreed, written confirmation is required, and you will then need to apply to the CAA for Event Authorisation - and, if at an airfield, to the Airport Manager as well. |
